Malvern
Appointed by Persimmon (South Midlands) Limited Pegasus Environmental was instructed to undertake an initial, comprehensive, BS5837:2005 tree survey of a former Ministry of Defence establishment located in Malvern. A mix of trees of varying quality was identified and as a result a series of tree surveys and protection plans were drawn up. These surveys and plans highlighted the Root Protection Area (RPA) of a number of trees in relation to potential construction. The RPAs helped steer the design proposals to incorporate many elements including public open space, a village green, and Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS), as well as a phased residential development.
The landscape proposal integrated the principles of Green Infrastructure (GI) through the creation of green corridors, reinstated streams, and strategic planting to provide attractive new wildlife habitats, meanwhile retaining existing GI assets such as trees, hedgerows, and interconnected green spaces, wherever possible
Pegasus Environmental was also responsible for the production of a Landscape Management Plan, a play area design, and detailed planting plans with specifications for both residential development and associated SUDS.
